[rrd-users] Graphing/Data issue.

I'm storing data in some rrd files. The data is simple and
straightforward. I'm not doing any math on it, and the values range
from ~200-~400 (so far)
the numbers increase, never decrease. they tend to go up 1-5 per interval.
My graph output has spikes up to 3.5m (not million), and down to
0.1m... Which is entirely not right. It seems to take whatever
values get passed it (like 280) and turn them into fractions that
appear to have nothing to do with what I just passed it, like
0.11486[...]
wtf?
My graph command is:
/usr/local/bin/rrdtool graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="Bad Requsts" \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--alt-autoscale-max \
--lower-limit=0 \
--vertical-label="" \
DEF:a="badreq_175.rrd":badreq:AVERAGE \
LINE1:a#FF0000:"Bad Requests" \
GPRINT:a:LAST:"Current\:%8.0lf" \
GPRINT:a:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.0lf" \
GPRINT:a:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.0lf"
My update command is:
update badreq_175.rrd --template badreq N:280
My rrdtool info output is:
