[rrd-users] Absolute, Gauge and Derive

Hi folks!

I've a rrd file that is listed below. I'd like to add another DS so I can
get the number of messages Sent per hour. As far as I know I would create it
using the ABSOLUTE option, right? But what would happen if I feed the values
with ever increasing values every 5 minutes? What kind of grapf would I get?
Is that my best option?


DS[URA] typ: GAUGE      hbt: 600        min: 0.0000     max: -1.#IND
DS[messageSents] typ: GAUGE     hbt: 600        min: 0.0000     max: -1.#IND
DS[messageSentperSec] typ: DERIVE       hbt: 600        min: 0.0000
    max: -1.#IND
DS[TotalConnections] typ: GAUGE hbt: 600        min: 0.0000     max: -1.#IND
