Hi all,

Looking at the tutorials I can see an example such as:

rrdtool fetch example.rrd AVERAGE -r 300 -s -1h

timestamp in_bytes in_pkts in_flows
out_bytes out_pkts out_flows

Now from what I can understand, this is the 5 min average from the last
hour, is this correct ?
I'm not sure I need the averages though, is there a way to retrieve
total from the last hour ?

I basically need to extract the usage from each rrd every hour.

Thanks again !

 Hi again,

Can someone give me an example or some details on how I can extract data
on a daily or hourly basis ?
http://dude.powerserve.com.au/~rosst/rrd/example.rrd
Above is an example.

I've read a bit on rrdtool but cannot get my head around how to do this.

Is it using:
Rrdtool fetch ?

Can anyone give me an example please ?

Thanks again.

Subject: [rrd-users] Extracting usage from rrdtool

Hi all,

We get all figures from netflow for all our customers, they all have
static IP address.
I used this guide to set it all up,
http://www.dynamicnetworks.us/netflow/index.html
My many thanks to Mr Galloway and all the software writers involved in
that project, it's absolutely awesome ! :)

I also use the front end from http://www.netflowguide.com to extract
usage figures for each IP address.
With the influx of many more customers, it is getting quite difficult to
do this manually anymore :)

My question is, can I extract daily figures and monthly figures using a
command line tool per IP address ?
Can anyone point me in the right direction, an example ?
I think I can use some rrdtool commands which can give me daily figures,
maybe then run them from cron daily ?
I've linked one of our rrdtool databases so you can see the structure
it's in.
http://dude.powerserve.com.au/~rosst/rrd/example.rrd
I asked the netflow list but haven't had too many responses.

Once I extract those figures I can then put them into an SQL database
for historical data tracking.

Thanks again !

Peace.
