[rrd-users] compiling statically?

Hi,
every once in a while I have to compile rrdtool again. Now I have new hurdle
to take, I got a compile and a target box:
the libpng, libfreetype and libart libraries are either not installed or in
a different place on the target box.
Without touching LD_LIBRARY_PATH for each script using rrdtool on the target
box, what else could I do?
I thought when I do a
./configure  --enable-static=yes
I won't need those libs on the target box. But ldd'ing on the rrdtool binary
tells mit it is still linked against those libs.

What could I do?
