how slow is sloooowwww? How long does your "rrdtool graph" command take
to produce the output?

Are you using the debian rrdtool package available via apt-get or did
you build rrdtool yourself?

I'm using the debian rrdtool package on my NSLU2 and it runs with quite
acceptable performance. However, my NSLU2 has almost nothing else to do,
maybe you are overwhelming your little machine with other tasks?
