[rrd-users] Missing fonts?

I have a new install of rrdtool v1.4.4, running on RHEL5x64 with Xymon 4.2.3
The installation was made following instructions in http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/doc/rrdbuild.en.html and appeared to complete correctly.

Graphs are being drawn with data from rrd but the text elements of the graph (title, axis labels, etc) are not.  It appears to be a font problem, but I've been unclear how to chase that down.

Have you any ideas or suggestions about next steps in troubleshooting?
