Thanks tobi for such a quick response.
I have one more query.
Actually the application in which i want to use that data needs ping
results after every minute. So for that i have to change the step value
as 60 sec instead of 300. But after doing that, the formatting of the
graph did not changed and everything is as it was before, allthough it
should have more blocks between 20 min interval in the graph.(or it has
fixed format for the graph ie. it will show value after 300 sec).

What does these values(below) mean in the smokeping config files. I
couldnt understand their use correctly.Allthough i have read the
tutorial of the RRDTool and also the man page, and i know the meaning of
these RRA's individually but i couldnt get their meaning in this
context. Why are these AVERAGE and MIN,MAX defined again and again with
different values.

AVERAGE 0.5 1 1008
AVERAGE 0.5 12 4320
    MIN 0.5 12 4320
    MAX 0.5 12 4320
AVERAGE 0.5 144 720
    MAX 0.5 144 720
    MIN 0.5 144 720

Thanks
Atul.
