Thanks to all who replied! The info I received helped me to search for
more resources. You can't believe everything you read on the Internet
but according to:

ms=one thousandth of a second

us=microsecond which is one millionth of a second

 

When I point Smokeping to local devices I would get "us" and pointing to
remote devices, "ms".
