echoping 6 has just been released.

http://echoping.sourceforge.net/

The main change is the introduction of plugins, so you can easily
monitor your favorite brand of protocol / server. echoping is shipped
with plugins for PostgreSQL, whois and LDAP and more are to be
expected.

What you can do:

* write plugins and submit them,

* find bugs and report them,

* fix bugs and document them.
