[smokeping-users] Smokeping performance tracking

Hello, 

 

We have installed rrdtool 1.3 (as JonG said we would) but smokeping
gives the following error, after starting the probes, and then dies:

 

RRDs::info /usr/local/smokeping/var/GCC/GCC10APP51.rrd: ERROR: setting
POSIX_FADV_RANDOM on '/usr/local/smokeping/var/GCC/GCC10APP51.rrd':
Success at /usr/local/smokeping/lib/Smokeping/RRDtools.pm line 113.

 

Has any one seen this and know how to resolve it.

We are going to look at deploying smokeping to a servers that have San
access so I guess diskio problems should be less of an issue but I will
look at what performance gain we can get from rrdtool 1.3

We have seen this in the log but this really only provides a reactive
way to know you have a capacity problem it would be much nicer to see it
coming rather than waiting for it to happen.
