Assuming you are not running the web only version of 2008 (or purchased
the special nov vm version for the same cost as the regular one),
install a virtual setup of linux on 2008, as standard 2008 will allow
one virtual system.

It's not that you're a pain, it's probably that nobody on the list is
using Win2008 as a Smokeping server.  Have you considered setting up a
Linux box?  Perhaps then more people will be able to help you.
