[smokeping-users] Many <defunct> Echoping under Smokeping

Howdy,
I need to get another set of eyes on something.
I'm running smokeping in a docker container hosted on a onsite server. So
far it works fine, but last night something weird occurred.
I have 2 probes running, FPing and EchoPingHttp. They both run 3 pings at
60 steps to 20 hosts.
Last night, I had 2 complete gaps across all hosts in EchoPingHttps for a
handful of hours in total. Fping for the same period showed jitter and
minor loss but not the major gaps I expected to see, or minor for that
matter, like I said, just some jitter/minor loss.
Today, inside the docker container, I have a large number of defunct
[echoping]s showing in ps. They seem to have been formed during the
outage.
Should I expect more of these defunct [echoping]s during an outage? Am I
doing something wrong? Here is what I think is relevant, Please let me
know if you have any thoughts on it or need to see more.
Docker build command: docker run --name smokeping10314 -p 8000:80 -v
/etc/smokeping/config.d:/etc/smokeping/config.d:ro\ -d dperson/smokeping
I have the config files on the host in /etc/smokeping/config.d
