The way the RTTMon Mib works is it creates an object in the router memory and then the router executes that measurement and fills in the results then the next snmp request gets the values. My idea is that if you created the 20 reqs for the same router you may have been consuming too many resources on your router (like memory). It could be a smokeping ressource issue as well but I doubt it.
You could monitor the resources in the router itself to make sure. I would go command line for that in order to get the peaks. If you don't want to, you can use MRTG with RRD to set the measurement period to 1 min or use a custom SNMP Read software (like one from an NMS app) to get the CPU and memory consumption in real time.
Let us know what you find, it's an interesting question.

hello,
recently i applied smokeping at cisco asr1002 router with probe:
CiscoRTTMonEchoICMP.
everything works fine until one day i add about 20 more icmp ioshost.

i got no graph with /var/log/message as follow:
RTTCommunity at 30.63.8.41:::::2 supports 2.2.0 Round Trip Time MIB

then i tried to delete the config file and create a new one with only
2 imcp ioshost, then the graph got back.

So my question: is there any up-limit for cisco icmp poller(all in one asr router) for smokeping?

My Config file list here:
