[mrtg] Can mrtg just read from file instead of SNMP?

Curious...
Can you configure mrtg to read configurations from a file, instead of
querying the router via snmp?
I keep hearing there is a command switch that mrtg uses, but I can't seem to
find it.
Does anyone know of this ?
