Greeting,

I am using MRTG under NT.

If I want to monitor the in and out LEC control frames for IBM 8210, are the
following procedures correct:

1. Download the MIB from IBM for 8210 switch.

2. Find out the variable for in/out control frame. In this case they are
"lecControlFrameIn and lecControlFrameOut".

3. Use "cfgmaker" to generate the 8210.cfg file. (perl cfgmaker
community at 8210_mss > 8120.cfg)

4. Modify the 8210.cfg file to include the "lec.mib". (LoadMIBs:lec.mib)

5. Modify the 8210.cfg file for changing "Target [8210_mss]:
lecControlFramesIn&lecControlFramesOut:community at 8210_mss"

6. Run mrtg to generate the HTML files. (perl mrtg 8210.cfg)

Those are what I did and I got an error as: Unknown SNMP var
lecControlFramesIn and Unknown SNMP var lecControlFramesOut.

After I change the variable to OID as:
Target[8210_mss]:1.3.6.1.4.1.353.5.3.1.1.4.1.6&1.3.6.1.4.1.353.5.3.1.1.4.1.5
:community at 8210_mss (The OID are correct, because I got those from MIB
Browser, and MIB Browser can get the info from 8210 with this lec.MIB). I
got the following error:

SNMP Error:
Received SNMP response with error code
  error status: noSuchName
  index 1 (OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.353.5.3.1.1.4.1.6)

                 request ID: 111543823
                PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes
                    timeout: 2s
                    retries: 5
                    backoff: 1)
SNMPGET Problem for 1.3.6.1.4.1.353.5.3.1.1.4.1.6 1.3.6.1.4.1.35 sysUptime
sysName on configure at 10.128.20.2
SNMPGET: Failed to reach target: "1.3.6.1.4.1.353.5.3.1.1.4.1.6&
5.3.1.1.4.1.5:configure at 10.128.20.2". I tried multiple times!

Questions:
1. When I use the variable, seems the mrtg was not reading the lec.mib, why
was that?

2. When I use the OID instead, why I got SNMPGET failure?

3. Do I have to modify the "cfgmaker" and\or "mrtg". If I do, what should I
do?

4. If I use the MG_Soft MIB Browser with this lec.MIB, I do not have problem
to retrieve the info from this 8210.

Thank you,
Frank
