thanks for the replies, 'prob' 1 fixed with RTFM

'prob' 2, I guess need to be tackled with:

dynamically rebuild cfg with cfgmaker prior to each pass; then;
insert an additional target based on just created cfg, to sum all i/f;
then; run mrtg against this new cfg
