There is an option (I know it exists in the beta release) that will allow
you to build your cfg files with IP address instead of interface number.

Subject: [mrtg] Changing Cisco interfaces
When I run cfgmaker on my cisco routers, it finds the subinterfaces just
fine. The only problem I have is in the .cfg file it names each interface
1, 2, 3, etc. and when a new interface is added that changes the numbering
and therefore my graphs are wrong. Is there a way around this? Is it
possible to use an OID of the specific interface instead of simply calling
the 8th interface "8"? Thanks.
