I am pretty new to MRTG also, but I think I've figured out the basics. I'm
running in on NT 4.0 and have been pretty sucessful. Here are a few of my
tips:
1) You don't necessarily need IIS for MRTG to work. Actually, since I was
using NT, I just shared out the directory where the web pages were created
and grabbed them from there (ok, not sophisticated, but it'll work for the
time being if you don't want to set up a web server) :)
2) I've found that unless I use the entire path for EVERYTHING, I had
problems (i.e. rather than "perl mrtg cfgmaker blah blah" I cd to
c:\mrtg\run (I seem to have problems if I'm not even in the mrtg\run
directory???) and then type "c:\perl\bin\perl c:\mrtg\run\mrtg
c:\mrtg\run\cfgmaker community at router_ip > c:\path.to.config.file.
Everything is my path also...don't know why it doesn't work.
3) As they said, make sure you edit the mrtg file in the mrtg\run folder and
change the OS to NT rather than UNIX.
Hope that helps...
Jared
