[mrtg] help, I can't install Perl on an NT server

I keep getting this error:
Installer Information
    Internal Error 2744. PPM_CONFI, C:\perl\bin.
    "C:\Perl\bin\wPerl.exe" "C:\Perlbin\configPPM.pl"
    "C:\Perl\site\lib\ppm.xml" "D:\downloads\perl\\"
    "C:\Perl\site\lib\ppm.xml~"

and while this link
(http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/docs/RELEASE.html#windows )
say's it's because of an existing copy of perl, I don't have a copy of perl
on the machine

Without this I can't Run MRTG.

Has anyone encountered this problem and do they have a solution different
from the one found in the above link
