[mrtg] upgrading from 2.7.5 to 2.8.12?

I know that this question must have been asked AND answered a thousand
times, but, I am in need of this knowledge...

What do I have to do to keep the historical data from my graphs on a system
with mrtg2.7.5 when I upgrade to a new system and install 2.8.12?
