[mrtg] Re: Log not being correctly populated when using opera nds inside of t he target

Thanks Paul, your suggestion helped isolate the problem to the division of
the to sets of OIDS. If the division is not there, then the log file is
populated correctly. Is there a problem with dividing two OIDs. The log
file shows the two correct values on the first line, but never fills in the
following lines (if using division). Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

John

BTW, here is what the log file looks like (I am logging percentages)

----------------------------------------------------

972512430 8.89423076923077 8.89423076923077
972512430 0 0 0 0
972512130 0 0 0 0
972512100 0 0 0 0
972511800 0 0 0 0
....

John,

It could be because the value in MaxBytes is less than the value you are
getting with MRTG. Try upping that value from 100 to something else
temporarily. Another test would be to just have either the first set of
OIDs or the second set. Then add one of the operands (not the other set of
OIDs, though). Then the other set. See when things start going haywire.

I'm not sure if I missed the first part of this thread, but did you ever say
what values you were getting on that first line of the .log file?

Paul

I'll try to ignore the flaming RTFM messages and repost my question
with more information.

I have read the manual, several times in fact, and I do specify the
gauge option for this target. Thus my posting on this message board.

So, I will pose the question again along with all of the settings I
have for this target (My mistake for not doing so the first time). I think
that I have something incorrect in my target (i.e. something to do with MRTG
requiring at least two inputs) Anyway, the first line of the log file is
getting populated with the correct numbers, but then the rest of the number
stay at zero.

Can anyone tell me why this target is only logging the first line of
the log file? Is there something else I have done wrong? Thanks in
advance.
