Paul,
Thanks for your reply again..
The snmp4tpc is an excellent resource.. I don't see GETIF and I don't see a
search page..
My NT 4 box just doesn't seem to have the snmp stuff I need, so maybe I'll
load this snmp4tpc util instead.. my management and sensorsoft temp mib can
walk the tree and show me the variables I want..

I just installed the snmp4tpc, but I don't see how to run GETIF.. is this
suppose to be an executable?

Thanks,
Jon.

Why isn't snmpget executable? You should really get GETIF.
It helps me out tons. Have you seen http://www.wtcs.org/snmp4tpc ?

You can download GETIF from there. In the meantime, what
happens when you try to run snmpget? Can you run snmpwalk?

It sounds like something may be wrong with the resource kit
installation.

Also, try to post replies back to the list. It helps with archives
and later problem resolution for other people searching the
    archives.

    Paul

Thanks for replying Paul..
It is NT 4. server..
Where do I get the complete snmpget syntax.. I have resource kit loaded,
but snmpget is not an executable..

Thank you,

Jon Robbins

Jon,

What kind of system are you using as the monitoring platform?

If *nix, can you run something like snmpget blah to obtain the results?
If Windows, can you either do an snmpget or use GetIf and get
the result you are looking for? I've often found loading the mibs
just adds another step, further complicating matters that much
more, so when trying to troubleshoot, you are always trying to
figure out if you are querying the right MIB value in the first place.
Plus, it adds another layer of loading, so it conceivably slows
down the whole process anyway.

Paul
