[mrtg] Total traffic

Hello everyone.
I have a problem with mrtg and total traffic (Perl script contributed by
Seth Mos). 
At routerA (Cisco 3640)the total megabytes out are "2361" but at routerB (
Cisco 1720)the total megabytes in are "2944"  
Does anyone know why this happens and also can maxbytes value in the
mrtg.cfg affect this.
