Don't disable it. Have a look at your mrtg.log file. The last line
has a timestamp. This is the *first* line to enter into the RRD.
The first line of your mrtg.log file should be inserted *last*.

So: reverse the order of the mrtg.log file (in memory), read the
first line, create a database starting from that time (maybe one
second before it, don't know if this is still necessary), feed the
data to rrdtool.

Maybe you should look at the MRTG source itself. It does automatically
transform mrtg.log files into RRDs when you start using RRD.
