[mrtg] graph that grows

Hi,
I,m new here.
I am running MRTG on ipchains and measuring traffic.
I perform a ipchains -Z to clear the accounting data every month.

At the moment it is all running well but it prints the difference between
old value and new.
So I want mrtg to plot the exact value (and not compare old with new) so i
can work out how many bytes goes through that link per month.

I am finding this hard to explain because my vocab does not extend to the
mrtg lingo.
