[mrtg] AW: mrtg with ifconfig

I want to show bandwidth used an a special interface without using snmp.

cban can dou that for example, but that tool only gives mrtg the actual
status.
=> so if there is a higher or lower value, cban will not notice it, and the
mrtg pic
wouldn't be really useful.

so and now to the part related ifconfig:
ifconfig also shows (better counts) TX / RX packets.

i thought that mayby someone has a script for me, but i will
cut out the unnecessary information from ifconfig with awk

regards,
patrick

What exactly do you mean 'run mrtg with ifconfig' ?

ifconfig is a utility to bring interfaces up and down, what does it have to
do with mrtg/snmpd?
