[mrtg] needing scripts for Monitoring Samba and other non-SNMP items

I am looking for a repository of scripts and tools for modification to
monitor things that are not currently SNMP supported on Linux (AFAIK).
I am not very good with scripting, yet, but am definitely willing to
learn.  I would appreciate the help.
