I made an interesting discovery...
When I move the log files to another directory and run MRTG again, it works
correctly and .rrd databases are created.
Looks to me like there's a problem with the code that attempts to convert
.log files to .rrd.
I'm up and running now, but I lost all my MRTG history :(

Subject: [mrtg] ERROR: Cannot update, MRTG w/ RRDtool
I sent this message a while ago, but I'm still having the problem so I
thought I'd try again. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to fix this!
I've been using MRTG and things have been running smoothly. I decided to
try out RRDtool, but after switching to RRDTool I'm now receiving the
following errors when running MRTG. Does anyone know what this means?
I'm running MRTG 2.9.18pre7 and RRDtool 1.0.35 on a Windows 2000 machine.
'-' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
ERROR: Cannot update c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mrtg\192.168.1.1_1.rrd with
'1019144483:
1769854270:283941805' opening 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mrtg\192.168.1.1_1.rrd':
No su
ch file or directory
Sure enough, there is no such .rrd file. Is this error coming from RRDtool
or MRTG? How can I fix it?
If it helps, I noticed that when I have multiple PathAdd: statements in my
mrtg.cfg, only the last one appears to be valid. I copied RRDtool.exe to
the directory of that last path, prior to doing that I was getting an error
that rrdtool.exe could not be found. As it stands now, the only
modifications I've made to my .cfg since using MRTG w/o RRDtool (which
worked fine) are as follows;
LogFormat: rrdtool
PathAdd: C:\rrdtool\src\tool_release
PathAdd: C:\mrtg-2.9.18pre7\bin
Any and all help is appreciated.
