[mrtg] converting mrtg timestamp in excel

I'm trying to get the real date/time logged by MRTG. how can convert the
date/time using excel? reference says this is the formula:
"=(x+y)/86400+DATE(1970,1,1)
". but what about those variable like X,Y and DATE?
