Because if your backups make your graphs unreadable from a daily 
perspective. E.g. during the day a high point on a server would be 
5MB. And at night the backups would 
reach 60MB thus making the daily usage unreadable.
Also it if our daily usage peak would be 5MB and we get a 6.5MB peak 
then its very 
difficult to see on this particular graph.
One thing I would agree with you on is that it does make a boring 
looking graph and it 
also makes an unreadable graph (from our point of view) which 
defeats the whole 
purpose.
