If the owner didn't give you the key, you shouldn't enter.
MRTG is a tool for administrators, not for crackers.

Duh.  This line obviously is only valid for the router
in the 2nd level domain abc in the toplevel domain xyz.

Why didn't you ask about the "xyz" part ?
