Look into Big Brother.  It will do this for you.

www.bb4.com   THey have a Better than Free version out there.

YOu will also need to get the bb-mrtg.sh external from deadcat.net too, to
make it work.

I'm now working on integrating QuickPage into MRTG (or vice versa), meaning
by
reading the data from MRTG log file every 5 minutes and comparing with some
thresholds, QuickPage is automatically triggered and a message is sent to a
cellphone or pager. Anybody has any idea to do this? Thanks. Simon
