[mrtg] problem while running mrtg on redhat inux

Hi 
   I installed zlib, libpng, gd and ofcourse mrtg  on redhat linux according to unixguide.txt 
  but when I run mrtg like this
  /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg --logging=/var/log/mrtg.log
I am getting this below problem
gd-png fatal libpng error invalid filter type specified

any help greatly appreciated
