[mrtg] If down / rebooted ...

I just installed mrtg ... and I saw some graphs :) My question is :

If my machine is rebooted or down for quite a while, will mrtg "continue" from the last collected
data ? or reset to 0 ?

I say "Weekly" data and "Yearly" ... how long will mrtg keep the data? after 1 year, will it be
reset to 0 again?
