Hi Zeeshan,

There are several options to recover your data and your graphs getting updated again:

1. Since the data is important I expect you to have made backups.
You have to stop the polling of MRTG first.
Restore the *.log and *.old files from a backup which was made with the system clock about the same as the clock is now.
After the restore you can restart MRTG.

2. If you have no backup you can wait and do nothing until the systemclock has reached the time at which it was set back.
Until that moment your graphs are not updated.
Looking at the error message I would say the system clock was adjusted for about 2 months, so this waiting may take you too long.

3. A complicated solution is to change the timestamps on all lines in all *.log and *.old files. While doing this MRTG polling has to be stopped, and you have to make sure you adjust all timestamps by the same amount of seconds. You have to take care that inside the files you keep to the standard MRTG times for the graphs (whole hour, 5 minutes past the hour, 10 minutes past the hour etc. or in the timestamps ...000, ...300, ...600, ...900, ...200, ...500 etc.). Before you start this make copies of the *.old and *.log files to make sure the other options are still available in case the logfiles get corrupted.

4. You can put your system clock jut as many minutes in the future as it was before. Your graphs get updated immediately but then the 'last updated' item in your graphs will not show the right time.

5. you can delete all *.old and *.log files. All historical data will be lost, but the graphs start updating immediately.

Just some general advice: Let your time-sensitive servers (as mrtg is) synchronize its system clock with an external time server.

Hth,

Jan.

Dear all, I think due to changing the time this problem is coming and now graph are messed up how can I recover my data, as that's important

Rateup ERROR: /usr/bin/rateup found that 1.1.1.1 log file time of 1115532850
was greater than now (1112850006)
