[mrtg] Problem installing GD library

Looks like you are not in the directory where gd was untarred at.
When I run configure, I am in the libgd-2.1.0 directory that was created when I untarred the tgz file.
[mrtg at nldanms-1 libgd-2.1.0]$ pwd
[mrtg at nldanms-1 libgd-2.1.0]$ ./configure
checking build system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking host system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane...

I am installing the MRTG first time on Ubuntu 12.10. I am flowing the installation steps mention on MRTG site under Documentation section. But I am getting the below error when I am installing the GD library. Error message is mention below. Could anyone help me to fix this error message?
