there is no explicit documentation but the interface to the main
function blocks uses argv equivalent to stand alone utils ... check
the rrd_tool.c for a sample implementation.

the difference is that 1.0.25 has some more warnings enabled ...
the code of 25 is actually cleaner than the code of 17 ... patches
to cleane it up further are welcome ...
