Alex, thanks so much for taking the time (once again)...
I guess it had to hit me directly in the head for me to finally get it; the
update time has to be
a whole number divisible by the step time; not just a fixed interval
relative to the previous one.

By making sure your update time is "n*m" where "n" is any whole
number and "m" is the step size.
The long explanation has been posted here previously, look it up if
you desire to do so.
