Note that the catalyst switch must have the info for its snmp agent configured, and the agent must be enabled.  You also want to be sure that the snmp write passwords are set to some good password (or snmp writes disabled), as that can be a huge security problem.

Cisco's website will provide you with the instructions on how to do this.

I have MRTG installed in a PC trying to monitor everything connected to a 
Cisco catalyst 4000, I get absolutely nothing but the following error

I know nothing about these switches, what do i have to add to the catalyst 
to get mrtg to collect info?
