RRD calculates the period of time corresponding to each pixel, and
than calculates the average value for that period.

Tru, your daily graph shows a higher peak. But over a small period. But
if you had an even smaller period to look at , it would be even higher.
For example in a CPU, for exch CPU cycly the CPU is either fully useful
or fully incative - but graphing just the max value for that sort of 
resolution would
be useless... So RRD does the intelligent thing - its just not what 
people expect ;)
