I never came across that problem, but after simply googling for the  
error message you showed us here, I found these:

Looks like your problem is related to an old rrdtool version -- please  
take a look at those URLs and see if they can help you.

If you don't manage to fix the problem, please reply back with more  
details (i.e. rrdtool and library versions).
