They all have advantages and disadvantages, just like editors, shells,
IDE's, programming languages, and other religious topics.

Top-posting seems to work best for mobile devices and other devices with
small screens. Open an email and the pertinent response is right there. No
need to scroll. This works even when people are lazy and forget to trim
their quoted material.

Inline-posting works best when there are multiple items that need to be
individually discussed. It starts to break down after three responses or
three pages; whichever comes first.

Bottom-posting reads the most like English but fails when folks don't trim
their posts, when the email gets too long, and as previously mentioned, on
small devices.

All that said, it's almost a moot point now that we have email clients
smart enough to hide quoted material.
