I just wrote (in error), in answer to the following:

I run on a unix platform so there may be reasons not to do it this way, but I:

cfgmaker public at device1 > devices.cfg
cfgmaker public at device2 >> devices.cfg
cfgmaker public at device3 >> devices.cfg
cfgmaker public at device4 >> devices.cfg
 .
 .
 .
 .
cfgmaker public at deviceN >> devices.cfg

What I should have written is:

I run on a unix platform so there may be reasons not to do it this way, but I:

cp distribution.cfg devices.cfg
vi devices.cfg # to fix the working directory and other global variables
cfgmaker public at device1 >> devices.cfg
cfgmaker public at device2 >> devices.cfg
cfgmaker public at device3 >> devices.cfg
cfgmaker public at device4 >> devices.cfg
 .
 .
 .
 .
cfgmaker public at deviceN >> devices.cfg

and I continue that until I have one that takes more than a minute or
two to run, or until I have a collection that needs a different set of
globals, then I start a new one.
